RM. 38: A Hidden Speakeasy for Intimate Gatherings

Kevin Aoki is officially launching his long-time passion project: a hidden speakeasy called RM. 38, located on the second floor at 1938 Indochine. The private lounge is named after his father, legendary restaurateur Hiroaki “Rocky” Aoki, born in 1938. Upstairs, a bright neon sign for RM. 38 shines brightly over a wood sliding door. Behind it reveals a seductive lounge, which includes an exclusive Whisky collection, curated over the years by Kevin himself.

The French Indochina-inspired decor features custom whisky barrel tables and laps, vintage motorcycle gear, vintage motorcycle gear, and red silk curtains inspired by Kevin’s travels throughout Southeast Asia. The scarlet-colored walls display original propaganda posters from Vietnam and China, modern artworks created by famous street artist, Shepard Fairey, and photos from the Aoki family archive. It is a perfect choice for birthday celebrations, family dinners, or a fun night out with friends.
